POLICIES ON USE OF RENTAL BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS
There are NO REFUNDS. Cancellations must be made 30 days in advance to receive credit for calendar year.
Amusement Rides: The contracting of amusement rides or equipment and horse/pony rides of any kind must be approved IN ADVANCE. There is an additional fee for this type of entertainment and groups are required to provide a Certificate of Insurance which names the VCCD as the insured.
Electronic music is prohibited. Special exceptions my be granted on an individual basis by written permission only. All other music must be kept at reasonable volume as deemed by park security.
Staples or nails shall not be used on tables, walls or anywhere on the rental facility. You may use tape but decorations must be taken down before you leave.
Before leaving your rental, please clean up tables, place recyclables in the proper containers, pick up litter, and leave the facility as you found it. Groups who do not clean up their rented facility will be charged extra and will be allowed to rent the facility in the future.
Observe speed limits and park hours. Departure should be made at least 15 minutes before park closing to allow park security ample time to check facilities and clear the park.
If picnic tables, banquet tables or chairs are moved from shelters, they be must be placed back in their original position before you leave.
Ball diamonds or recreational field adjacent to rental facilities are not reserved with the facility.
Chaperones must be present at all times with youth groups. There shall be a minimum of two adults and a ratio of one adult per ten youths.
Directional signs may be placed throughout the park but must be removed upon departure.
Firewood is not provided with the rental facility, but may purchased at the Visitor Center at Kennekuk. It is recommended that arrangements for wood be made in advance.
Fires are allowed only in designated pits and grills. Ground fires are prohibited. Fires are also allowed inside rental facilities where fireplaces are provided. The stove in the Vermilion Chapel is for decor only. No fires allowed in the chapel. The chapel is not heated and you may bring your own kerosene heaters if you desire (with permission from the office) to heat the chapel during cold weather.
Fire should not be left unattended. Please extinguish outside fires upon departure. Fires in fireplaces inside the facilities may be left to burn out on their own. Do not use water to extinguish fires in fireplaces.
Firearms and fireworks are prohibited. Firearms are allowed only for hunting purposes in conjunction with the VCCD's hunting program.
All plants and animals are protected.
No swimming allowed.
Alcoholic beverages are allowed only at rental facilities or in designated picnic areas.
Always use paved parking lots when spaces are available. Otherwise, parking is permitted on the grass one car length off of the paved road.
Handicapped parking areas are posted. Only vehicles marked with handicapped permits will be allowed in these spaces.
Delivery trucks, trailers, large mounted charcoal cookers and other types of heavy equipment may NOT use the grass for any reason unless approved in advance.
Unlicensed vehicles are prohibited (go-carts, mini-bikes, ATV's) in the park.
No horses are allowed on any of the walking trails. There is a designated horse trail at Kennekuk and maps showing this trail may be obtained at the Visitor Center. Horses may also use the park road system.
Disorderly conduct will not be tolerated. This includes using loud and abusive language, climbing on porches or roofs of buildings, breaking limbs of trees, damaging property or signs, removing furniture or exhibit displays.
Any group or individual within the group which violates any of the above rules and regulations will be escorted out of the park. Any damage incurred to park property is the responsibility of the group and damage will be billed to the group.
All provisions of the District's Ordinances governing the public use of grounds shall apply. These Ordinances are posted in front of the Visitor Center at Kennekuk.
